ANABI and ARMA concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aiming at strengthening their cooperation in the field of asset recovery

Today, the 6th of August, 2024, the General Director of the National Agency for the Management of Seized Assets (ANABI) and the Deputy Head for European Integration of the National Agency of Ukraine for Finding, Tracing, and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important step in strengthening the interagency cooperation in the field of asset recovery.

The meeting organised today in Bucharest, Romania, brought together the top management and expert teams of ANABI and ARMA. This is the third bilateral meeting of two Agencies in the last year. First meeting took place during the 10th Conference of States Parties (COSP 10) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in Atlanta, USA. This March, ANABI's Director General addressed a keynote speech during the public event of ARMA's Annual Report held in Kiev.

This MoU represents a technical agreement aiming at consolidating a pre-existing cooperation relationship established through the Camden Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network (CARIN). The document encourages the implementation of joint projects, exchanges of information, best practices, as well as the development of educational and training events and materials.

As part of its mandate to develop and share best practices in the area of asset recovery, ANABI invited recently ARMA, as well as its counterpart representatives from the Republic of Moldova - ARBI, to participate in the workshops organized in the framework of the RECOVER Project (JUST-2022-JCOO), in which ANABI is part of the international implementing Consortium. ARMA and ARBI accepted the invitation and participated as an external guest in the workshops in June and July of this year. The workshops were dedicated to asset recovery and management offices and aimed at exchanging best practices and strengthening international cooperation.
